Psychoanalyst – The function of the psychoanalyst is not to fight neuroses just to overcome them, but to accompany them using them to help the patient’s development.
The PSYCHOANALYST’s task is the same as that of the Law, it is to encourage and direct the patient to return to the right path, rebuilding himself in the order from which he had moved away.
In practice, the PSYCHOANALYST has to fight against two opposing demands: 1) that of pushing the patient along the path of evolution, overcoming the inferior instincts, because this is the path of salvation; 2) that of treating the complexes, eliminating the shocks that generated them, in the effort to achieve that overcoming.
The treatment method, by sublimation, can be applied with greater amplitude the more the patient is evolved. Treatment must be proportionate to the individual’s understanding and reaction capabilities. It is up to the PSYCHOANALYST to understand and judge.
The PSYCHOANALYST can become, in addition to being a doctor, a master of evolution, also functioning as a personality builder.
